Pigasus Vineyard
Pigasus Vineyard
The Pigasus vineyard is located on the western edge of Sonoma Mountain at approximately 850 feet elevation and consists of 10 acres of rolling hillsides. Planted in 2008, the Pinot Noir blocks consist of two clones: Pommard and 777. Farmed organically, the vines are grown on volcanic soils, including a combination of sandy loam and clay loam. The grape vines here benefit from a large diurnal shift. This temperature fluctuation can be attributed to the cooling fog that travels up the western slopes of the mountain as the sun sets. It usually dissipates late in the morning and gives rise to the sun - before cooling winds from the Petaluma Gap arrive in the afternoon. The winds are followed by fog, hours later, leading to significantly lower nighttime temperatures again.
